At the fish ladder side of the Hiram M. Chittendon locks is this sculpture by Seattle artist Paul Sorey. It is meant to evoke the importance to us of water and of salmon and to celebrate the improvements made to the locks to enhance the survival of salmon making their way to the sea and back again. At night, apparently, blue LEDs create images of salmon traversing the locks. I need to go back at night.
