These strange rings, containing habitat for birds and bats, are part of a sculpture titled "Quarry Rings". It commemorates the fact that this area, now surrounded by condos, was once a working quarry. The little park in which they reside is titled "Thomas C. Wales Park" in memory of the Assistant U.S. Attorney murdered in his home in our neighborhood in 2001.
